" Canaries in the coal mine" is a reference to how coal miners would use birds to see if the air was safe in the mines as they react more quickly to polluted air--often resulting in dead birds! Many of us humans call ourselves "canaries' as we react quickly to toxins in our environment that many other people do not notice --though it is still poisoning them just as much as us. Synthetic fragrances are common toxins found not just in perfume/cologne but also in body care products, laundry products and plug in or spray "air fresheners". Today's fragrances are even more toxic than they were in the past due to use of phthalates which are plasticizers--they are used to make the fragrance "stick" as it is embedded into the fabric or walls etc. I react with migraines to many of these toxic fragrances so ask that clients please use fragrance free products as much as possible for my health as well as yours! There are, fortunately, many great alternatives that one can purchase or even make at home. Thanks for your consideration!

Qigong and Acupressure have their roots in the ancient Daoist traditions of China which taught the unity of body, mind and spirit. Qigong is a gentle yet effective program for improving our health and energy and calming our minds through simple stretches and exercises, breathing and relaxation, self-acupressure and massage, visualization, and meditation. The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. Qigong's great appeal is that anyone can benefit-- from the most physically challenged to the super athlete, regardless of ability, age, belief system or life circumstances. Qigong can be practiced anywhere, at any time--there is no need to buy special clothing or equipment or to join a club. It can also be practiced standing, sitting or lying down, making it particularly useful for those with physical limitations.

Greetings! At this time, I am not requiring clients and students to wear masks in the treatment room--however if you have any cough or sinus issues(even if you think it is allergies) please wear a mask! I still sanitize after every session and air the room out. Also, I am continuing the same policy I started at the beginning of the pandemic in regards to cancellations—if you feel the least bit sick or you have possibly been exposed to Covid or other serious virus, you can call and cancel even at the last minute and there will be no cancellation fee. Same for students—I will refund your deposit if you are sick! Please wash hands thoroughly before a session or class!
A note on Holistic health: As a holistic practitioner I go by the original meaning of holistic, which is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For health this means considering the body, mind and spirit are one, and that we as individuals are connected to other people and to the environment. It does NOT mean eschewing modern medicine. All medical and health decisions must be made by balancing the risks vs. benefit for any procedure, medication or natural healing methods. I chose to have the vaccine mainly because it offers protection to those who I am in contact with in order to protect them (even more than I am doing it to protect myself). So many people have died or are suffering long term effects from having Covid infection that it is irresponsible in my opinion to not get the vaccine—for most people. There are of course always people who should be exempt from the vaccine because of serious health issues—in that case it is even more vital that they practice safe measures such as mask wearing and social distancing at all times –not just when coming for an appointment!
I also know that herbs and acupressure can be very useful for helping with the symptoms associated with Covid. I am sure that I made it through having Covid without any serious issues because of my use of herbal medicine and doing acupressure on myself, and doing Qigong when I had enough energy to do so. Reducing stress is a big factor for helping your immune system function well and acupressure and massage are excellent for doing that!
